A big thank you to our volunteers
To say a big thank you to all of our volunteers and to mark Volunteers Week, we will be taking them out to lunch on Sunday 4 June to the Kettering Park Hotel.

Volunteering can make a real difference in your own life and the lives of those around you and there are lots of ways to get involved. To find out how you can get involved, read more in our Volunteers Week section within this newsletter.

Wellbeing Wednesdays

The aim of Wellbeing Wednesday’s is to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of your mind, body, and soul, and to provide practical tips and resources to enable you to do so.

It’s all about having a little fun while taking care of ourselves, and, by joining forces with a group of wellness warriors, we can motivate each other to keep on track and stay happy and healthy.

All activities are free and will change each month.

Salon Focus Group
It’s a common saying that your hairstylist doubles as your unofficial therapist, and it’s said because it’s true! There’s something incredibly therapeutic about talking to your hairdresser or barber whilst getting your hair done, and it’s highly beneficial to your mental health too.

Professionals working in the hair and beauty industry are in an incredibly privileged position of trust and intimacy. Clients often share raw and real stories with their hairdresser about their lives and the people around them, which sometimes can be difficult to facilitate.

Kelly’s Heroes will be launching a new campaign later this year to help those who own or run a salon to get a better understanding of clients facing mental health struggles.

If you are a hairdresser or barber or know someone who is, we will be running a focus group on Sunday 11 June from 10am-12pm at Stanwick Lakes to talk about how mental health training can benefit your salon.

Fundraising
We have two people taking on huge physical challenges for us in June. First up is Cherie Dean and Reece will be competing in the Tough Mudder in memory of Cherie’s brother Craig. You can sponsor them here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/craig-dean-1683193615989

Next, we have Dani Cranton, who will be taking on her first ever Ironman challenge on the 11 June. You can sponsor Dani here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/dani-cranton70-3

Good luck to you all and a massive thanks for the funds you have raised so far for the charity.

We also have a charity fundraiser being held at Burton Latimer Town Cricket Club on Saturday 10 June, organised by Graeme McKim. The event is free to attend with a disco, food, raffle and silent auction.

If you would like to donate a prize for the raffle or auction, please contact Graeme on 07952398655.

SoBS Groups

Our SoBS (Survivors of Bereavement to Suicide) groups run every week at different times and locations throughout Northamptonshire, to ensure people can receive help and support when needed. The groups help both men and women to understand, process their grief and receive support after a bereavement to suicide.

Each session runs for 2 hours and during the sessions, attendees are welcome to share as much or as little about their story or experience with grief. This helps to stress the fact that nobody has to deal with grief alone and highlights that there are others who are here to help.

Please see our calendar for your nearest group. If you wish to attend, please email justine.burnhope@wemindandkellymatters.org.uk
